The Ashley Stockdale Series

I am a person who avoids the book section of Christian bookstores that holds the "romance literature". I have never cared for books that read like overly dramatic scenes in a poorly written movie with phrases like, "She wept profusely and shouted out as she pounded his chest, 'Why me? Why does my life have to be so hard!?' or, "he gathered her up in his arms and decared, 'I love you so darling. God help me, I love you so!' " *GAG*

Blame it on the Brain?

I enjoy challeging myself and reading books that take me out of my comfort zone as a counselor. This means that I purposefully read books that don't always back up the counseling model that I approach within my office. In fact, may times I search out books that are against Christian counseling, just so I can know what the "other side" is saying.

How To Pray

When I was in my early 20's my maternal grandmother passed from her earthly home to her heavenly home. As I was helping my mother and Aunts sort through her belongings we found her prayer journal. For decades my grandmother had prayed for everyone in her world. From her immediate and extended family to the milkman who used to deliver the milk. Not only were they written in her journal, each individual had their own page, and as the years had passed she had made notes about the very things she was praying about for them.
